‘Lies’ is a feminine rage anthem, exploring the idea of weaponised incompetence and acting as a rallying cry for women everywhere to express their anger at the patriarchy. Vanitas bring their unique blend of progressive metal and djent with orchestral elements that wouldn’t sound out of place in a Final Fantasy soundtrack to portray the intensity of
the message within ‘lies’; a soaring, emotive chorus plummets into a hard-hitting breakdown, ending with a declaration for women everywhere to reclaim their power.

LIES!
Verse 1:
I provide your safest shelter,
I will smile and disappear.
You will say it’s in my nature,

Reduced to just a bride-
I wanna move, I wanna feel the light,
And claim the space that’s mine

Your gaze cuts through me, what a burden-
To bite your tongue, I am determined-
Not to show my face or let you know,
I see through all your-

You shackle all my pride,
Reduced to just a bride-
I wanna move, I wanna feel the light,
Reclaim all your-

Oh I wanna move, I wanna feel the light,
And claim the space that’s mine
Breakdown:
Mine

Mine
Make me shoulder all your burdens.

You must realise that this free labour,
Comes at a price.

Lies,
You shackle all my pride,

I wanna move, I wanna feel the light,
Reclaim all your-
Lies,
You shackle all my pride,
